Intensive Dual Diagnosis and Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment with an Expert Staff

Clients with dual diagnoses or co-occurring disorders struggle with both mental health disorders and addiction. A client with a dual diagnosis can have any mental illness along with a substance dependence, the most common being depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, borderline personality disorder, and trauma or PTSD with a drug or alcohol addiction. BlueSky has been at the forefront of providing treatment to clients with dual diagnoses and co-occurring disorders since its inception.

A Different Approach

Dual Diagnosis & Co-Occurring Disorders Treatment Program

It is a common misconception that if people stop drinking or abusing drugs, they will feel all better. The majority of clients with substance abuse, in fact, have underlying anxiety, depression, trauma, and a host of other possible mental health disorders. In many cases only one side of the dual diagnosis spectrum is diagnosed and treated, leaving individuals feeling like they cannot make effective change. Stopping alcohol or drug abuse is a key component, but often clients are left with a sense of intense dread, anxiety, or depression even though they have stopped abusing substances. The complexity of treating a client with a dual diagnosis requires expert treatment with qualified providers. At BlueSky, we provide that treatment in a setting that is supportive, innovative, and effective.

BlueSky provides treatment that effectively treats both sides of the dual diagnosis spectrum. Through the use of treatment that includes individual therapy, group therapy, medication management, and techniques such as Exposure Response Prevention (ERP), BlueSky gets at the root causes of both the mental health and addiction aspects of a client’s struggles. In addition, BlueSky prescribes
Suboxone to those individuals needing additional support for the treatment of their opiate addiction. The BlueSky approach appreciates the complexity of how mental illness and addiction impact one another. At BlueSky, we believe that addiction is often the client’s failed attempt to treat themselves and a negative coping mechanism that worked briefly, only to fail the client and trap them further into a spiral of hopelessness and anxiety. While we encourage clients to attend 12-Step meetings, BlueSky is not a 12-Step based program, focusing more broadly on the treatment of client’s dual diagnosis needs.

Effective treatment, innovative approaches, and a clear understanding of the relationship between mental illness and addiction makes BlueSky different. BlueSky understands the complexity of dual diagnoses treatment and the needs of our clients.
