Determination That I will Never Give Up
Why is it Important?
Winston Churchill, the prime minister of Great Britain during World War II, was one of the most determined people ever to live. Despite suffering from severe depression and excessive drinking, he was able to lead his nation at a time when it looked as if the “forces of evil” led by Adolf Hitler, were going to conquer his country. In a speech at the Harrow School on October 29th, 1941, one of the darkest times of the war, Churchill said,”… this is the lesson: never give in, never give in, never, never, never, never, in nothing great or small, large or petty, never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense.”
How Long Will It Take to Learn?
Determination is more an attitude than a skill. It needs constant cultivation. Determination is built on our inborn instinct for survival; the survival instinct is at its core. If you consistently cultivate an attitude of determination, the results you achieve will amply reinforce your efforts. Hope feeds determination. Determination and hope work together to produce success, which is what your recovery is all about.
