We Don't Believe in Labels

We treat people, not "substance abusers" or "addicts." Every client that comes to us has their own story, and we'll work with them to find the tools they need for their path to sobriety, whether those are motivational interviewing, the 12 Steps, DBT, Medication Assisted Treatment, or a mix of everything.

Our Counselors work with those in our Self Harming Behaviors track to teach them the tools and give the support needed to break free of the behaviors and substances have taken over their lives. BlueSky’s addiction and substance abuse counselors create an individualized addiction treatment plan for each client as part of their substance abuse treatment. Their treatment plan is then integrated with our Case Manager's service plan for those enrolled in our Enhanced Treatment Program (ETP) and living in our Supportive Independent Living apartments in Danbury. This expedites the healing process for our clients so that they can quickly get their lives back on track.

"When I got here on the first day, I had my own apartment through BlueSky, something I had to take care of. I had the freedom to do what I wanted, including using, and I gained a lot of of confidence from that. Because I could go use, and because that was an option and I wasn't doing it, it made it apparent to me that I was doing this. I was keeping myself sober, I was keeping myself sane, I was keeping myself going to groups. No one was making me do this. I gained a lot of confidence through that. "

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

CBT addiction treatment encourages clients to question and examine recurring thoughts to phase out those that are negative and unhealthy and detrimental to their addiction treatment.

Rational Emotive Behavioral Therapy (REBT)

Similar to CBT, REBT it helps clients identify, challenge, and replace their destructive thoughts and convictions with healthier and more adaptive thoughts regarding their substance abuse and addiction.

Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)

DBT teaches clients how to regulate their emotions to reduce the self-destructive behaviors that derive from extreme, intense emotions. An effective treatment for drug abuse, drug addiction, eating disorders, anger-related issues, self-injury, and Borderline Personality Disorder.

Exposure Response Therapy

Exposure Response Therapy

Exposure Response Therapy, ERP, is BlueSky’s behavioral therapy technique used successfully for decades to treat obsessive-compulsive disorders/phobias - so your loved one can get back home and continue their life. BlueSky adapted this therapy for those in addiction treatment battling substance abuse and addictive behaviors. ERP reduces the cravings that trigger drug and alcohol relapse by exposing your loved one to simulated versions of their drug of choice and the paraphernalia associated with its use. The tools and cognitive scripts learned through ERP teach clients to handle their cravings, leading to the eventual extinction of that craving. ERP is virtual practice for real world encounters with addiction triggers. Our internal data suggests that it is very effective in reducing addictive behavior which means those who participate in this therapeutic method have a greater likelihood of overcoming their addiction of choice.
